To All Members:

Well, we did it in style. Our North Central Regional Championship match was a rousing success. I’ve gotten phone calls, emails and from people at the match on how much they enjoyed the way we put on a match. The scenarios were well balanced and the SOs were very helpful and friendly. I want to personally thank Ron Durham, Mike McGinn and John Kemmerle for all the help with behind the scene work. Also, the scenario designers: Ron Durham, Mike McGinn, Mark Williams, John Lustig and the Grand Poobah for their efforts. The set up day work party stayed to the end on Saturday. A special thanks to all the SOs and ASOs for a full day of standing out in the sun and still being friendly to the shooters. Another thanks to John Kemmerle and Reed Moore for running the scoring duties and not even shooting the match. We had 80 shooters, 8 stages and were done by 2:30.
Please write or email a “thank you” to the prize table donors. Ron estimates that we had about $3,000.00+ worth of prizes. Mike Maynard won the gun raffle, which came to exactly $1,000.00.

We are going to try this at our monthly matches: (I have to credit Ron Durham for this idea) We won’t have a “walk through” per say as we have had in the past. I will gather one SO from each stage and the Match Director and do a precheck and changes to each scenario. Note: ONLY THESE PERSONS! I will then call for a “general meeting”(for lack of a better word). We will make the usual announcements, talk and call for the “newshooters” Safety Orientation. Then we will all go to our stages and get a small walk through from the SO in that stage. This will eliminate the long and drawn out walk through of the past. The critical part will be that the scenario designers have a clear and detailed “Procedure” written for each stage.
I will also ask our SOs to not let people “slide” when it comes to procedurals. This is the reason why: When you get “freebies”, you will not remember to correct the error of your ways and then get “dinged” at a Regional and State match. You can warn a new shooter of a “minor infraction”, but that’s all. I am trying for better consistencies in our officiating so it benefits us when we go to other matches and put on another big match. I am not asking for the return of “Range Nazi”mentality.

FYI: Who was the “Most Accurate” shooter? ahuh! Please LOOK at your score sheet before signing it. John Prall had a time of 86.00 seconds on stage 5, but he was in the 16.00 second range! I hope our scorekeeper, John Kemmerle can send us a printout of the side results i.e. Senior, Lady, Lawenforcement etc when he gets back from Idaho.
