SDPS NEWSLETTER – May 2007

RandyJune 3 was a beautiful day for a match and a record number of people showed up to enjoy it! We had 78 shooters, which is the largest turnout for

Doug and Gina

2007, we had 12 new shooters (which tied last months high number), and we had a record number of ladies with 8 participating and even a couple more helping tape, brass (thanks Gina), and cheering for their favorite shooter, we hope you all come back, we’d love to see you again…and you can even bring a gun if you want!

We are also improving in the Unclassified category…we only had 22 unclassified shooters this month and I know several of them did the “self-service classifier” after the match. Thanks guys (and gals) if we don’t count new shooters we were at 12.8% really close to our 10% goal…keep up the good work let’s get all our regular shooter classified!

June 3 2007 SDPS Match SummaryAngela

This month Mark Leiser was the MD and Cindy Tucker was the assistant MD. We had five stages that were all themed “around the house”.

Stage 1 was “The BBQ”…devised by George Norton…it had a BBQ glove you had to wear, a moving target on rail-road John Prall

tracks, 4 steel pepper-poppers, a bunch of paper targets and you guys came up with more ways to “figure it out” than Famous Amos has cookies…Stage 2 was a Home Invasion scenario by Fred Mowrey where you were in bed when the bad guys arrived and your gun was in the safe. Stage 3 was another “run and gun” through the house by Brian Meloy. I did Stage 4 where you just finished cleaning your gun and were sitting on the porch when the bad guys arrived. Stage 5 was a home office scenario by Cindy Tucker.

Again we had two repeat Champions from last month Wayne Johnson in CDP with a 90.16 (8) and Chad Case in SSP – 82.95 (17). New Champions this month Jim Griffiths ESP – 99.14 (14), Steve McCormick ESR – 130.10 (23), and Bart Hightower SSR – 180.50 (18).

Best stage scores were monopolized by three shooters this month Chad, Scott and Drew.

Stage 1: 23.43 (7) Chad Case

Stage 1

Stage 2: 18.09 (2) Drew Morgan

Stage 2

Stage 3: 10.14 (1) Scott Yu

Stage 3

Stage 4: 13.69 (1) Chad Case

Stage 4

Stage 5: 10.25 (0) Scott Yu

Stage 5

The “Fantasy Shooter’s” score for the match would have been 75.60 down 11 so no one was even close again this month…see even the good guys need to keep practicing

Stage of the Month

AlissaThis was tough month for me to pick a winner. They were all fun to shoot but, stage 1 had so many “gaming opportunities” and took so much time to reset that I don’t want to pick it. I personally liked 4, but that was mine so I don’t want to pick that either….so I am awarding the “stage of the month” for June to Fred Mowrey….it was pretty realistic with the gun in the safe next to the bed, and blasting the bad guy as you ran into the hall and then using him for cover just felt good somehow…OK, I’m sick, I admit it………thanks Fred and congratulations, because congratulation is all you get for wining stage of the month!! No, wait tell you what, if you come to the July match you can also have free Pizza and a soda after the match for winning June Stage of the Month!! (And just to be fair, so can all the other previous Stage of the Month winners!) Hope to see you there.

Till we shoot again…..
