IDPA International Postal Match – July 6, 2008 in Ione

Last year IDPA started the “Postal Match” concept. They designed four stages with very detailed setup instructions and over 900 shooters shot the stages, when the scores were posted on the IDPA website they were then able to see how they stacked up against other shooters that shot the same stages.  No awards, no prizes, just the opportunity to see how you compare to others in your classification at clubs around the world.

This year there is at least 64 clubs signed up to shoot the second annual “Postal Match” and SDPS is going to make it our July 6th match in Ione.  The IDPA international match designers have come up with four (4) entertaining and challenging scenarios. Each scenario has detailed instructions and measurements on how to lay out and shoot the course of fire. These courses of fire are designed to be revolver neutral as well as left- and right-handed neutral. Jerry Lee has volunteered to be the match director and make sure the stages are set up and run as specified by IDPA National to make the results are fair to everyone. If you would like to see the stage designs, you can go to the 2008 Postal Match link and check them out or IDPA Club Schedules for more information.

Since there are only 4 stages in the Postal Match, our President Wayne Johnson (aka Grand Poobah) has designed a 5th stage and he will be providing a revolver and ammunition for everyone to shoot the stage with.  So after the match when the scores are posted you will be able to see how you did compared to, probably, over 1000 shooters across the country and around the world. For the 5th Stage, Duane will provide results that will show all SDPS shooters in one class for Stage 5 so you can see how you did compared to all the shooters in SDPS on Wayne’s stage.

If all the smoke blows away in the next week, it should be a great day at the range and a great opportunity to shoot a fun match and see how you do compared to the rest of the folks that enjoy our sport around the world. Even if it is still "smokey" it will still be a Fun Day!

Hope you see you there!
