IDPA 101 Class
Purpose: To practice and improve basic IDPA shooting skills used in shooting IDPA matches.
Who Should Attend: Shooters who want to improve their shooting skills and learn basic techniques which, when practiced, will improve their scores and better their classification levels.
Experience Required: Shooters should have shot at least 3 IDPA matches in the past 12 months, should be comfortable with match safety and procedures, and want to improve their IDPA shooting skills.
Equipment Required: An IDPA legal gun, belt holster, magazines (or speedloaders), cover garment, hearing protection, eye protection, and 100 rounds of ammunition.
Topics Covered:
- Improving basic marksmanship/accuracy at both short and long distances
- Multiple types of draws from holster
- Improving Shooting methods: strong-hand, weak-hand, low ready
- Reloads: Slide-lock, tactical
- Clearing jams and malfunctions
- Movement while shooting: forward, backward, left/right
- Positions: standing, kneeling, prone
- Barricades: walls, low cover, barrels, doors
- Multiple Targets: Tactical priority, tactical sequence
- Snatching gun: loaded and unload from table, drawer, and briefcase
- Mental Discipline and record keeping
- Speed improvement
- Practice recommendations
Cost: $30 per shooter, time approx. 4 hours
