Introduction to IDPA Action Shooting ClinicSchedule: Clinics for 2012 are on Jan 7, Feb 4, Mar 3, Apr 7, May 5 and Jun 2 at 9:00 AM till 2:30 PM at the Sac Valley Shooting Center Action Range near Ione. Purpose: The IDPA Clinic will introduce you to the sport of IDPA Action Shooting with a "hands on" experience. Even if you are an expert "bulls-eye" shooter, shooting while moving, using cover properly, and shooting for both speed and accuracy is a fun and exciting new challenge for all shooters. During the clinic you will learn the range commmands and procedures used to safely and confidently shoot an IDPA match. We will review and demonstrate the equipment required and how it should be worn. We explain gun and shooter classifications, timing, scoring, and penalities assessed during a match, and proper "match etiquette". After about an hour of "classroom review" you will spend the next 4 hours "hands on" learning and practicing all the basic shooting skills and IDPA match etiquette by shooting and working a practice match with your squad in a low pressure environment where you can learn and ask questions. Who Should Attend: The Clinic is MANDATORY for any shooters without verifiable past or current IDPA, IPSC, USPSA or ICORE action shooting experience. However, it is still HIGHLY RECOMMENDED that you take this Clinic to familiarize yourself with IDPA rules, and become comfortable with IDPA safety procedures and match etiquette. You will learn a lot, have a lot of fun, and be a safer and more confident member of your squad when you shoot your first match with SDPS. Safety is our #1 Priority. If you believe you may have satisfied the qualifications to be exempt from the "Introduction to IDPA Clinic" please contact Duane Chinnow prior to attending your first match with SDPS. Shooting Experience Required: Prior to taking clinic you should be comfortable reloading / exchanging magazines in your pistol and drawing from a holster. You should have the ability to consistently hit a silhouette target at a distance of 2 to 20 yards.
