Schedule: Clinics for 2010 are scheduled on Jul 3, Jul 31, Sep 4, Oct 2, Nov 6, and Dec 4 at 9:00 AM.

Purpose: To introduce new shooters to SDPS / IDPA match guidelines. To explain all range commands and procedures used when shooting a match. To review equipment required and how it should be worn. To explain classifications, timing, scoring, and penalties assessed. To practice shooting and working a match which covers all basic shooting skills and match etiquette.

Who Should Attend: It is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED that anyone without IDPS or IPSC experience attend the New Shooter Clinic prior to shooting a regular match with SDPS. Safety is our #1 Priority.

Experience Required: Prior to taking clinic you should be comfortable reloading / exchanging magazines in your pistol and drawing from a holster. You should have the ability to consistently hit a silhouette target at a distance of 2 to 20 yards.
You should not be a completely novice shooter who has never shot a handgun at a range. If this is the case, please go to a local range and practice your basic stationary shooting skills and practice drawing your UNLOADED gun from your holster at home prior to attempting "Action Shooting" with SDPS.

Equipment Required: A pistol or revolver in the 9mm to 45 ACP caliber range. A holster which covers the guns trigger. A magazine or speed loader pouch (or moon-clip holder) that is worn on the belt with a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 3 magazines. A vest or shirt / jacket that can be worn as a "cover garment". Eye and hearing protection. 50 rounds of ammunition.
